MOUNTAIN HIGH MAPS is a collection of relief map images and vector geopolitical map of the countries and continents of the world in a meticulously detailed and accurate topographical relief view. This map package comprises 5 relief maps and matching vector geo-political map of the specified region; using Photoshop and/or Illustrator, designers can create highly customizable maps for any media publishing project.
General description
Each relief maps in four variations of colorization, plus vector paths and a variety of bitmap masks. The high resolution relief maps feature ocean floor relief as well as land relief:
- Colorized map, JPEG, physical relief, low contrast land and ocean floor relief colorized according to elevation.
- Colorized map, JPEG, physical relief, high contarst land and ocean floor relief colorized according to vegetation.
- Colorized map, JPEG, political relief, low contrast land relief colorized according to international boundaries.
- Base relief map, JPEG, physical relief grayscale land and ocean floor relief.
- Masked relief map, TIFF, physical relief grayscale land relief, with white ocean areas.
- Corresponding outline versions of the map in Adobe Illustrator EPS format. The Illustrator file provide fully-editable outlines of this map, with each country placed on a separate layer for easy location and editing. Additional layers include rivers, major cities, graticules (lines of latitude and longitude), and scales. All long paths are split into smaller chunks - although Illustrator allows documents to have paths with more than 1,000 points, it will not print any fills applied to those paths, so areas with colored fills have been "tiled" to assist in printing. The Illustrator file also includes a layer into which one of the above corresponding relief maps can be placed. The Illustrator files can be placed directly into any draw or page layout application which accepts the EPS file format.
- Corresponding bitmap masks libraries for the above relief maps in TIFF format. These Photoshop files provide a collection of feature masks and a collection of country masks to be used in conjunction with this map. Each country featured in the map, whether fully or partially viewable, is included in the country mask library. The country mask allows the selection of a country taking advantage of Photoshop channels; a specific country may be selected for either in place editing or extracting from the main map and placed within its own separate map image. The feature masks library includes land/ocean mask, borders, rivers, major city locations, graticules lines of latitude and longitude, vignette and shadow masks; as for country masks, feature masks make use of Photoshop channels; a specific feature may be selected for either in place editing, such as colorizing rivers or the oceans, or extracting a feature from the main map and creating a new map image.
- Corresponding Photoshop Paths libraries for the above relief maps in JPEG format. The first Photoshop Path file provides paths for all features including land/ocean mask, borders, rivers, major city locations, graticules lines of latitude and longitude, vignette and shadow masks and a path for each country featured on the map; in addition, a second Photoshop Path file contains as separate paths all the text layers found in the EPS map: city name, country names, river names, island names, physical land and ocean features.
The TIFF and JPEG images are best used with image-editing applications such as Adobe Photoshop and Corel Photo Paint, but they can also be used within page layout and drawing applications, where color can be applied directly.
